You Can’t Go Home[]

Captain Abraham Tower meets his boss, Commander Virgil Knight, and reports that the Rhino Tanks are...adequate. Knight then informs him that after a lengthy sting operation that nearly ended in disaster, they managed to capture a member of the Jade Syndicate, known as the White Phantom after countless thefts. However, while having a leg-up on the Syndicate is excellent Knight is also impressed at how well she'd committed those thefts, noting they only connected her to them because she hoarded much of the items. Tower surmises he wishes to recruit her by any means necessary, which he tasks Tower with doing.

In the holding cell, Agent Topaz is already there. The criminal, Rouge Arsene, is sitting there, twirling her handcuffs around, having already picked them. Upon entering, she chucks the handcuffs at him and complains about a lack of food. Tower gives her snacks and juice from a vending machine. He begins talking, listing the various crimes she has committed, stating the Syndicate would likely come to get her and complaining about how roughly she was brought there.

They discuss how she got involved with the Syndicate, how cutthroat it is. The higher your position, the less it is about money. For Rouge, it was about challenging herself, and she took pride in her work, constantly adapting to new securities. Tower assumes she was someone's daughter within the Syndicate and given special treatment, to which she expressed angry indignation. She had come from nothing. No teachers, no tutors, no parents.

Rouge suddenly asks what she gets out of this, calling Tower old and stating there must be a reason she's not in cell right now. She mentions her thefts only slowed down because things started getting ugly. Tower offers her two choices: go to prison, or have her criminal record wiped and join G.U.N., mentioning plenty of high-profile infiltration missions and the occasional blind eye to jewel theft. After some thought, she agrees.
