Sonic is flying over the ocean in the Tornado, still holding the device he got in issue 1. However, the tracker starts to malfunction and short out, leaving Sonic with no further leads. He decides he will have to get it fixed to keep tracking down Eggman...Sonic realizes Mobotropolis is up ahead, and decides to land.

Sonic gets out of the cockpit, still a bit injured from his fight with Alep, but at least he can take it easy on the way to the city. Which is...still 7 miles away.

Upon finally getting there, Sonic begins to feel nostalgic, remembering when his mom would take him here. He reaches the Computer Repair Shop to find Uncle Chuck exiting along with Rosie the Woodchuck, with the two conversing about Rosie's job, before Sonic makes himself known. Rosie heads off to give them some space, and Chuck immediately notices Sonic's bandaged wounds and tells him to come with him.

At Chuck's workshop, he makes Sonic sit and gives him an icepack. Sonic tells him about how he fought robo-bugs and a mustached-guy named "Eggman", a name that sparks some familiarity withing Chuck. But when he walks into the other room, he's surprised to find his assistant, who was sent to get some parts, hasn't returned. Suddenly, there is a knock at the door.

Carrotia the Rabbit is there to tell Chuck his assistant is being attacked by a "big monster" that is going to "gobble him up!". Despite Chuck's protests about Sonic's injuries, he scoops up Carrotia and runs off. She directs him to Under Ground Zone. Setting her down and taking a mine cart inside, Sonic discovers a lava-filled chamber and a giant platform covered in sand with a giant antlion Badnik attacking the assistant, a two-tailed fox, who is desperately hugging a pillar.

As Chuck and Carrotia catch up, Sonic jumps down, spin dashes up the pillar, and gets the fox down just in time, only to slip and end up hanging off the edge himself. The fox uses their two tails to fly and grab Sonic. He tells the fox to throw him at a pillar, which he does, and Sonic sends the pillar into the Antlion, smashing its head in.

Carrotia and her siblings "apologize" for daring him to cross the sand pillar in the first place, calling him "Tails", which he reveals is a nickname they use to tease him. Chuck reveals his real name as Miles Prower, though Sonic says nuts to that and that "Tails" is a great nickname. Afterall, he can fly! What's to be ashamed of? This cheers Tails up. Sonic remembers what he came for in the first place and shows Chuck the tracker. Chuck tells everyone to return to his place and he will fix the gadget up. Just after they leave, Eggman tunnels in in a [[Egg Digger}drill machine]], surprised to see the Antlion totaled, but already having a feeling who was responsible...
