What? Stranded on an island that doesn't exist?
I'd be a liar if I said that didn't sound like fun."
— Sonic, Sonic Legacy Issue 11
Sonic the Hedgehog, better known as just Sonic, is the titular protagonist of Sonic Legacy.
A free-going spirit, Sonic has no set path or destination. Like the wind itself, he goes wherever his feet take him. His adventure begins near Green Hill Zone on South Island where he first encounters Tempest and the Egg Fleet.
Concept and Creation[]
While this version of Sonic is much like his canon counterpart, it was decided early into the comic's production that [Sonic] would be a fresh adventurer exploring the world for his own reasons. The core idea is that he "grows" with the reader, showcasing his triumphs, mistakes, and learning to tackle the various complex and complicated problems entering his life while retaining the series-long philosophy he showcases throughout the Sonic mythos. It was decided that Sonic is the focal point of the story through which everything else would be measured, changing others' lives for the better or worst.
Appearance[]
Sonic is a Mobian of average height and build for his age, with blue and peach fur, green eyes and custom red sneakers. According to Clove in Issue 12, he has a variety of old scars hidden just underneath his fur, with his hands having the worst of it, as they appear large and jagged.
Personality[]
Even at an early age, Sonic was a daredevil interested in extreme sports, and would often drag his friends, Johnny Lightfoot and Parker "Porker" Lewis into his physical activities. Fearless even as a child, nothing seemed to ever faze him.
Street-smart with a brazen attitude, Sonic has the kind of energy you expect out of a big city dweller, but having grown up in the rural nation of Christmas Island, it'd be more accurate to call him a country bumpkin, though he completed school at an early age, and had a particular interest in aviation and mechanical workshopping due to his family lineage.
He spent most of his time outdoors, exploring many of the island's pine forests, rolling hills, and snowy plains. Before he took off for parts unknown, he had a reputation for being quick-witted, and eager to help wherever possible, and kept a positive attitude even when things seemed to look grim.
While Sonic has a heart of gold, he has a somewhat darker side. In the event of conflict or battle, he jumps in without hesitation and without much care for the danger presented to him. However, while he seemingly doesn't care for his own safety and relishes in a fight, in the event someone he knows gets into trouble, he takes on a much more serious attitude, jumping in to help at a moment's notice.
Powers and abilities[]
Sonic is notably gifted with far above average ground speed and athletic ability. While many Mobians are capable of impressive running speed, Sonic outclasses most, if not all of them. Being a hedgehog, he has the natural skill to dig holes with precision and curling up into a ball to protect himself with his abnormally hard and sharp quills. Although, he differs from most other hedgehogs, being able to also roll at great speeds when combined with his momentum, turning a naturally defensive move into one of destructive efficiency he dubs the "Spin Attack". On top of this, his legs were called "hard as steel" in Episode 1 of Legacy Uncut, Worldbound, by his mother Aleena, giving him physical strikes.
In Issue #11: Long Way From Home, Sonic displays a strange ability protecting Clove from a trap arrow, slicing it in half instantaneously.
Sonic seemingly has the ability to harness power from the seven legendary Chaos Emeralds, attaining a golden form, although it appeared to cause him physical pain.

Equipment[]
Sonic owns a prototype fighter plane, the S-20 Tornado, that he uses to travel. Alongside this, he has a custom pair of red sneakers his Uncle Charles constructed for him using specialized engineering and chemistry. These sneakers are super-durable and heatproof, capable of withstanding the extreme wear and tear he would often put commercial shoes through.
Relationships[]
Tempest The Dolphin[]
Sonic first met Tempest on the outskirts of Green Hill Zone, where she offered a friendly competitive race in exchange for his wallet if he won. Tempest and Sonic seem to get along naturally well, although she's often taken aback from his daring antics, and has trouble keeping up with him on land, she nevertheless admires the hedgehog for her own unstated reasons. Sonic chooses to leave her behind due to her lack of combat experience, and getting hurt by the G-01 Alep which left her unconscious, although the dolphin's view on Sonic has soured somewhat due to this.
Miles "Tails" Prower[]
Tails looks up to Sonic like the big brother he never had, and Sonic in turn, views the fox with great potential. Sonic recognizes his confidence issues, and seeks to improve him and his skills, though he has a long way to go. Being Chuck's apprentice, Tails is one of the few people Sonic implicitly trusts with his plane.
Dr. Eggman[]
Sonic's views on the doctor are complicated. From the outset, he merely regarded him as a goofy idiot with a strange interest in robots, but quickly grew to recognize the human as a legitimate threat, spending the chunk of the Death Egg Saga chasing him down to constantly ruin his plans at every turn, although Sonic can't help but feel like there's more to Eggman than meets the eye.
Charles "Chuck" the Hedgehog[]
Sonic spent a great deal of his childhood around his uncle, and even got his undying love of chilidogs from the aging scientist. Sonic is able to easily pal around with his uncle, who can jab back just as well, taking his sarcasms and witticisms in stride. Chuck taught Sonic much of his knowledge about ancient ruins and their history.
