South Island is a location that appears in the Sonic Legacy comic. It is based on the same location from the Sonic the Hedgehog video games, and contains many of the same areas and zones seen there.

History

Sonic the Hedgehog and Tempest the Dolphin first meet here, each having been drawn to the island for their own reasons. After a friendly race through the Green Hill Zone is interrupted by a fleet of massive airships, they find themselves facing hordes of aggressive robots seemingly led by a peculiar young girl named Omelette.

Upon surviving a short bout with the child's weaponized vessel, Sonic and Tempest are sent plummeting down into the island's underground from the battle weakening the landscape. They land in the Marble Zone, where they find themselves dealing with more machines as well as the area's hazards and traps. They're transported back to the surface via a mysterious device, but soon find another subterranean area known as the Labyrinth Zone.

Trivia

  • The merging of South Island's location with that of Adabat's from Sonic Unleashed, as well as Sunset Heights from Sonic Forces was inspired by the former's tropical location, and the latter's apparent close proximity to the Green Hill Zone.
